In the whirlwind of modern life, where careers, family, and household responsibilities often take center stage, it can be a challenge to find moments of stillness and spiritual nourishment. We've all been there, haven't we? Those days when it feels like we're racing against the clock, barely squeezing in a verse or two from the Bible amidst the chaos. But what if I told you that there's incredible benefits in dedicating quality time to immerse ourselves in God's Word? It's not about racing through chapters; it's about allowing the Scriptures to breathe life into our everyday existence. In the midst of our routines, investing time in Bible Study can be the cornerstone that strengthens and balances every other facet of our lives – our work, our families, our homes, and most importantly, our relationship with God. Today, I want to introduce you to some Bible study books that have profoundly impacted my spiritual journey, helping me carve out meaningful moments in the Word, even in the busiest seasons. Let's embark on this quest for deeper connection and enrichment together.

Seamless by Angie Smith: Weaving the Threads of Scripture

This is my all-time favorite Bible Study book. I have done it with a group of ladies five different times, and just like when you read the same passage in the Bible and something new sticks out, it’s the same way in this study. Angie covers the entire Bible in 7 weeks! Now, obviously, not all is covered in depth, but she does a 30,000 fly over and then dives down to highlight the most important stories for understanding how the whole Bible fits together. If you are brand new to Bible Study, I highly recommend this one! Even if you are a seasoned Bible Study leader, this one will help you love Scripture even more!

Breathe by Priscilla Shirer: Finding Sabbath in the Chaos

I first did this study while on a Sabbatical in 2014. It was so helpful and encouraging as I was feeling overwhelmed by life. I didn’t even think taking a Sabbath rest was possible. Priscilla does a great job of helping us see that we are in bondage to things that should be blessings to us, but are keeping us from enjoying all that God has for us. Do you have margin in your life right now? Do you see Sabbath rest as a gift from God or does it seem like an Old Testament Rule that doesn’t have any place today? If this is a struggle for you, get this Bible Study and dive into it today.

Sermon on the Mount by Jen Wilkin: Living Out the Beatitudes

This was the second Jen Wilkin study I completed. I chose this one to highlight because of its immense practicality for living like Jesus. Normally, we learn lessons from the Sermon on the Mount in small doses: a study of the Lord’s prayer, a financial lesson, a study on the Beatitudes. This study has us read the entire sermon each week, and dive in deep to study it, verse by verse. Jen is an excellent Bible teacher and this study will challenge and encourage you to obey Jesus’ teachings and live and love like him.

Jesus and Women In the First Century and Now by Kristi McLelland

This study rocked my world in a great way! As a woman in ministry for over 20 years, often feeling very out of place, this study encouraged me like no other study had done before. Kristi is an excellent communicator who knows middle eastern culture and acts as a time machine for us, taking us back to first century Israel and showing us how Jesus’ interactions with women restored their dignity and honor. The lesson on Jesus and the Woman at the Well was so enlightening and powerful! I even had my husband watch some of the videos with me, and he was impressed with her knowledge and teaching style, and watched more than just the one video!

With Us in the Wilderness: A Study of the Book of Numbers by Lauren Chandler

Hear me out, I know a study on the book of Numbers doesn’t sound exciting, but there is so much good stuff in there that is not related to math at all! While this book shows us the path that the freed Israelite slaves took from Mt. Sinai to the promised land, it also shows us how God’s presence with us in our wilderness seasons can give us encouragement and hope. I’m currently about halfway through this study and am loving it! If you are in the Five Cities area, I’m actually going to be leading a group of ladies through this study on Tuesday nights.

As we come to the end of this journey through some remarkable Bible study books, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on the profound impact that immersing ourselves in God's Word can have on our lives. It's not just about checking off another item on our to-do list, but about embracing a practice that enriches our faith, nurtures our souls, and brings balance to our busy lives. Whether you decide to embark on a journey with one of the books we've explored today or another that speaks to your heart, the key is to take that step toward deeper connection and spiritual growth. Consider joining a Bible study group at your church or setting aside quiet moments at home. The choice is yours, but the rewards are immeasurable. Let's continue to seek Him in His Word, allowing it to transform us and draw us closer to His heart. Remember, growth in faith and a life of balance are within your reach, waiting to unfold with every page turned, and every verse studied.
